We’ve all come across missing rows before, on those airlines where the seat numbers go from row 12 to row 14, for example. But the lift in our building confused us. When we learned to count at school surely it was 1, 2, 3, 4, etc, not 1, 2, 3, 3A, 5? Wasn’t it? We had to ask around a bit before we finally found someone who explained. 8 is a lucky number in Chinese culture, whereas… you see, now I really don’t want to even type it!
So when we ate at Madame Kwan’s a couple of days ago, the Mystery of the Missing Table was easy to solve… Oh, but hang on – what’s that ‘B’ all about? More investigation required…

Hello darlings. I was actually thinking I was going to have to email you to say that the site will not open but decided to leave the page open and make a cup of coffee and hey presto it finally open.
So pleased your sense of humour is still intact Ann. Not sure what 13b means. Was there a 14 or do they think that is an unlucky number too? Maybe they just do not like any number containing a number 4.
All good here. Very very wet and very very windy the last two days which has caused a lot of damage. Penrith actually made the news when a tree came down over the railway line just outside our station and caused chaos for travellers to Scotland and London.
Lots of love to you both xx

Ooh I don’t like the sound of those storms. Brrrr. Glad all good otherwise. Re floors and tables – I think it’s anything with the number 4 in it – our lift stops at 13, 13A, then 15, 23, 23 A then 25. It seems really odd when I’m conditioned to think 13 is the unlucky number… Xx
