He explained that more and more foreign visitors are visiting his monastery, and he wants to be able to explain his religion to them. So –  he has an iPad, loaded with English learning apps. And so – we were able to have a nice chat about accents, and differences between US and British English. And about how as a tourist, being able to communicate with local people in a shared language is a delight and a privilege.
